Each edging strip is 2.4 metres long. There is a minimum order quantity of 9.6 linear metres. Orders can only be in multiples of 2.4 metres.
Our 3mm thick steel garden edging system is perfect for creating crisp, professional-looking borders along lawns, paths, and landscaping projects. Thanks to our innovative no-fixing ‘ziplock’ connection system, you can easily form sweeping curves, sharp straight lines - or a mix of both - without the need for specialist tools.
Available in mild steel (which naturally patinates), and Corten steel, this edging is both decorative and highly functional. Easy to install, built to last, and visually striking, our edging is offered in a wide range of heights to suit every outdoor space.

How It Works
Connecting the Edging:
Our user-friendly ‘ziplock’ system makes assembly straightforward: a ground spike is driven through professionally welded steel rings at each end of the strip. This locks the pieces together tightly while anchoring them firmly into the ground, creating strong, seamless joins.
Keeping It in Place:
Each strip has a welded ground spike every 500mm along its rear side.
- The spike is driven approximately two-thirds of the strip’s height into the ground.
- Create a shallow trench for the edging to sit in, burying around one-third of the strip’s height for maximum stability.
- Spike sizes vary depending on edging height (e.g., a 150mm edging comes with 450mm spikes, with 300mm driven into the soil).
Finishing a Run
To end a straight run, we include end clips that secure over the top of the edging. The attached spike is then driven into the ground to hold everything firmly in place.
If your run isn’t a perfect 3-metre length, you have two options:
- Cut the strip to size with an angle grinder and use the end clip and spike.
- Score the reverse side with an angle grinder, bend it at the desired point to create a corner or return, and cover the folded edge with soil or run it along a wall or fence.
Creating Corners and Shapes
Forming 90° Corners:
Cut a straight length into two sections and butt them together, or score the back with an angle grinder, then bend to create a neat corner. If the score closes up before reaching the full bend, simply re-score and continue. It’s quick and easy - taking less than five minutes.
Custom Shapes:
Our 3mm thick edging is strong yet flexible, allowing you to bend, cut, and shape it however you like. Whether you want tight curves, broad arcs, or sharp angles, you can create truly bespoke designs that will hold their form beautifully for years to come.

Please note: Finishes are only applied to the top surfaces and the open apertures from the top down of our covers. This protects the visual surfaces, for aesthetic reasons and helps prevents run off.
POST-RUST TREATMENT
Our cast iron products arrive in their raw state, initially displaying a grey color. However, upon exposure to water, they gradually transform into a vibrant orange hue. Over time, this rust layer naturally diminishes, revealing a richer, chocolate brown patina.
For those who prefer a more controlled aesthetic, we offer a pre-rusting service. With this option, we supply the covers already rusted and then apply a special protective treatment post-rust. This treatment not only preserves the color but also deepens it, resulting in a darker and more visually appealing finish.
This treatment offers excellent chemical, salt, abrasion, and impact resistance.
CORTEN SEALANT
In a manner akin to our Post-Rust method, we can also implement a similar approach with our corten steel products. Corten steel, renowned for its inherent rusting qualities, can be enhanced with the application of a sealant. This sealant not only seals the rusted surface but also attains an aged chocolate brown finish. This applied topcoat sealer finish serves a dual purpose: it not only achieves a more stable patina but also halts the aging process, preventing any potential bleaching.
POWDER COATING
Powder coating is a versatile metal finishing process that allows us to achieve nearly any RAL color or shade you desire. This finish is known for its exceptional durability, making it highly resistant to scratches, chipping, wear, and fading. BAKED-ON OIL
The baked-on oil finish is a unique application that utilises recycled cooking oil as the coating material. It imparts an aged appearance to the product, creating a charmingly weathered look. As the oil naturally wears off, it facilitates a smooth and graceful transition from the initial installation to the eventual patina.

DELIVERY CHARGES
All delivery charges are included in the estimation or final shopping basket and are dependent on the products selected for purchase. This charge is based on delivery to mainland UK. All of our delivery charges are based on the customer being available to accept the goods. This includes, on heavier items, the ability or willingness to manually offload the goods, or having mechanical offloading facilities available (such as a pallet or pump truck).
DELIVERY TIMES
Whilst we make every effort to ensure orders are delivered by the date required, we cannot guarantee availability. Any variation to a delivery date given will be advised to you by email or telephone. If we are unable to make delivery because access is not possible, we reserve the right to make a failed delivery charge.
Please note that any order received after midday on a Friday (along with any order received over a weekend) will be processed on a Monday. All of our estimated delivery times are therefore based on a 5 day working week so please bear this in mind when ordering. Lateral Design Studio utilises national carriers and national pallet distribution networks.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

RESTRICTED ACCESS
If you would like delivery to anywhere other than to the mainland UK with unrestricted access, please contact us on 020 8450 2244 or send an email to us at info@lateraldesignstudio.co.uk before you attempt to place your order. Shipping from the UK mainland would depend on the type of product ordered and the geographic location. This type of order would probably command an additional carriage charge.
We reserve the right to refuse to make a delivery if you have not informed us prior to delivery of any access restrictions. We consider restricted access to be if a courier or our drivers encounter bdouble yellow lines, a red route, narrow lanes, steep hills, low bridges, or width restricted roads.
SPLIT DELIVERIES
As a result some of the goods you order may come to you direct from source resulting in your order consisting of more than one part. Depending on stock availability, some orders may be split into more than one delivery so you are not kept waiting for those items immediately available.
You will be notified each time a part of your order has been dispatched so that you can keep track of your items. If we become aware of stock difficulties, which will affect delivery timescales, we will let you know by telephone or email.
If you require in-stock items in your order to be dispatched ahead of other items, which may not yet be available, you may be liable for additional shipping charges.
ACCEPTING DELIVERIES
Please check your goods thoroughly before signing for them. If any part of your delivery is damaged or faulty please contact us by telephone on 020 8450 2244 or email info@lateraldesignstudio.co.uk
Do not accept damaged products. Orders signed for “unchecked” will be deemed to have been received in good condition. As soon as the order has been delivered to your requested delivery address, the risk of any damage or loss passes to you.
